Jacobs First Fish

Took Jacob to the Hagermann Ranch trout farm in Bodega Bay - about an hour from the house). We did catch a fish, and while it may not look big, it clocked in at 13" and was yummy. Jacob who has never been into eating fish, was psyched to eat the one we caught.

Jacob's 3rd Birthday

Today Jacob turns 3! Daddy took Jacob to teacher Juan's tumbling class. What a fun place. Three trampolines, rings, bars to hang off of, and padded everything.
We had the family over to celebrate Jacob's birthday, but he fell asleep before we got to the cake.
Eli got his first tooth today. Didn't get a picutre of it, but it's there.

Chicago August 2009

Was in Chicago for a conference my company was hosting. Fortunately the Cubbies were in town and I got to go to the game with Steveski.

Wrigley is sweet. Our seats were field level, even with the 3rd base bag, about 25 rows off the field. Drew Barrymore led the crowd in Take Me Out To The Ballgame.

Cubs ran away with this one, with the Brewers walking in a run with the bases loaded (twice!), and hitting 2 batters with bases loaded.

Wednesday night a bunch of us went out to see some Chicago Blues and the Kinston Mines. Eric and the Troublemakers were hot.

The last picture is a sticker posted to a street sign right outside the Mines. Here's the story on Officer Frugoli

Jacob gets to operate a crane

So, Last month Jacob and I were getting ready to leave the nursery, when this crane truck drove up carrying 3 huge sections of a tree. We were content to watch, but then the tree dude asked if we'd like to help unload the tree.

They got the stump all hooked up, and Jacob and I got to lift the levers to raise and move the first section. Fun!

Smiling Eli

A shorty shorty video.

Vintage Video "Do The Money"

Circa summer 2008. Impressive first time through the routine. Particularly awesome how he knew not to hand over that second handful to Poppa, choosing instead to take the money and run.

A few pics of the boys & Jacob's 1st haircut

Jacob loves his little brother and gives him kisses all the time.

Eli is super. He smiles a whole bunch, but apparently not when the camera is out.

Jacob's hair was getting on the long side. We weren't quite sure how he'd take to getting his hair cut - especially since he hates even getting his hair wet these days.

Last night we asked him if he'd like to get his hair cut (a question we've been asking him every once in a while), and to our surprise he said yes. So we grabbed the scissors, and started snipping. He even wanted us to spray his hair to wet it first!

He was very patient, kept pretty still, and when all was said and done, he got his first haircut and it wasn't the least bit traumatic. Now hopefully he'll let us fix some of the funky parts.

Now That's A Train!

The Union Pacific Railroad had Steam Locomotive 844 in their Oakland railyard on Saturday. It was mighty impressive to see up close. This bad boy was delivered in 1944 and the Engine & Tender weigh in at a whopping 908,000 pounds. It can go over 100 mph though I'm not sure what the stopping distance is.

Each of the driving wheels are 6 1/2 feet in diameter, easily dwarfing Jacob who is now 33 1/2 inches tall.

There was a regular diesel locomotive located a few cars behind the tender. While not nearly as cool as the steam engine, Jacob did get to climb up on it which he liked.

Brit Milah

Hashem tells us that on the 7th day, we should rest. As for the 8th day, it's back to business, and on Elijah's 8th day that meant his Bris. Happily, both Elijah and Mom came through just fine.

Jacob still loves his little brother, though it doesn't stop him from telling mommy to "Put Elijah in the basket" when the little guy is nursing. When told that his little brother needs to nurse because he is hungry, Jacob, rarely at a loss for words replies "He's not hungry".

Elijah saw his Pediatrician on Friday, and has officially crossed the 7 pound mark. At this rate he'll outweight his dad around the time he turns 16 (which is a fair bet in my opinion).

It was awesome to have Aunt Eva and Poppa in town!

Mmm-Mmm thanks to the Minks for the delicious spread at the Bris.

More Mmm-mmm thanks to Eva for the S&S Cheesecakes. Too bad we forgot to set them out at the bris ;)

Double-extra-awesome thanks to Nanna for making Elijah's first week so much more enjoyable and less harried than I thought possible. Between watching the baby, entertaining Jacob, washing dishes, folding laundry and the thousand other things you've done that have gone unnoticed - I don't know what we would have done without you?

Elijah Lee's First Day

Elijah Lee was born on Thursday, April 2, 2009. He weighed in at 6 pounds 13.6 ounces (or 3.11 Kilograms). Both mom and baby are doing great. Jacob was excited to meet his little brother, though I think he was more excited to see the big firetruck that came to the hospital - there was a false alarm two doors down from our room. Unfortunately it had left by the time we got downstairs for a closer look.

Jacob's first taste of snow

A couple of weeks ago up we rented a house up in Tahoe with our friends Adam, Maria and their son Kai. The biggest storm they've had this season dumped about 3 feet while we were there.

The snow was awesome. Light enough to sink in knee (and sometime waist) deep, but still packable into a snow ball. Jacob had tons of fun shoveling and sticking his arm all the way into the snow. Jules made sure he was bundled up tight. Adam and I got in a great day of skiing - it's nice when you hear the snow report on your way to the slopes say there's over 2 feet of fresh power where you're going.

Thumbs up to fresh fallen snow!

Chanukah Fun

Jacob absolutely loved Chanukah. He was really into opening presents, and didn't quite get that this wonderful holiday comes to an end after 8 days. Every night he would get so excited to light the candles, say the prayers, and open presents. Trucks and books were among his favorites, and as you can see he is having a fine time with his new Hess truck and companion loader.

And of course it's always fun when Nanna is around
